People of Hobart: Man About Town...

...of a very different kind.

This guy is omnipresent. Or maybe he's following me around.

Tell me if you've seen him. Pryderi thinks he looks a bit like Jeff Daniels, although I haven't drawn him to look like the Dumb and Dumber co-star.

  • You changed your posts all around! You can't do that, it messes with my head!

  • I see him everywhere. I'm curious to know what his story is. Maybe I'll ask him one day.

I'm not sure if he's homeless or not. I have seen him fishing in bins for food. In any case there's probably mental health issues involved, like most of the conspicuously homeless. Hooray for woefully inadequate mental health services.

Does anyone else see Homeless Mad Scientist around all over the place?

  • I see him often at Salamanca. You've captured his distincy way of walking; stiff-legged with his hands held out awkwardly.

  • I meant distinct, not distincy!

  • Shaun, does Mad Scientist have a bike and is really skinny?

  • His name is Wally. I met him abt 10 years ago and he was in a much better state then. I saw his old striped rugby top tied to a tree on the domain, next to an empty bottle, a few months ago.

  • Leigh did some comics about some of the homeless gentlemen about Hobart some years ago - I believe this chap was one of his subjects.

  • I shall dig that comic up for you if you like Shiloh... I believe Leigh named him the Sage? I once saw him chase off another homeless looking guy who was hassling some girls, so I feel he is a force for good.

    Winter Palace Alex.

  • That would be great, thanks Alex! Maybe that's why I see him around all the time, he's actually some sort of Guardian.
